Liner Notes P&U

DIDN’T DO ME NO GOOD

By nature I want to live life my way but had to admit when I was 26 my way wasn’t working and I needed to change.  That old time book of Wisdom is right. “we reap what we sow” Galations 6:7.

PEACE & UNDERSTANDING

Can Jesus really change a life?  I yell ‘Yes’.  Some changes happen quickly and some are gradual. Having suffered for years from the negative effects of anxiety, it’s such a relief to learn how to trust Him and give Him all my cares, although it’s still something I keep having to relearn.  Jesus said ‘keep company with me, and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.’ Matthew 11:30. (The Message translation)

JESUS THE MAN

My favourite chapter in the Bible is Isaiah 53.  It was written around 750 years before Jesus was born, but it gives this incredibly detailed description of the man and His labour of love for each one of us on the cross.  Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this?  Check it out for yourself.

HE IS LORD

There are many ‘gods’ in this world that people worship.  Only One loved me enough to give His life as a sacrifice for my sin and enabled me to be completely forgiven and come into an everlasting relationship with God our Father.  I bow the knee and confess that Jesus is Lord and Saviour of the world.  Philippians 2:6-11

COVER FOR ME

Wherever possible I want to make things right with people that I know I have hurt or damaged, but sometimes the consequences of what we have said and done in life can’t be fixed.   I have to trust God’s mercy to work in these situations as I continue to follow Jesus every day, with the help of His Spirit living in me.  Meanwhile – cover for me Lord!  Matthew 5:7

HURT PEOPLE

I was pretty messed up emotionally from an early age and did a lot of damage to myself and others.  I was in a prison and I couldn’t get out.  It wasn’t until I understood how much I had been loved and forgiven by Jesus I realised that in order for the truth to really set me free I had to forgive others just like I had been forgiven, and that’s when the chains fell off and the prison doors opened.  John 8:36

LOVE, ACCEPTANCE AND FORGIVENESS

For years all I knew was that there was a hole in my life that nothing could fill. We were created for relationship with a loving, heavenly Father so no wonder life is hard.  We weren’t meant to live it alone.   Knowing you’re loved, accepted and forgiven is the best foundation for living well, and Jesus, through His life, death and resurrection makes this new way of living, loving and being loved possible for us all.   Let the healing begin!   John 15:9

JUST AS I AM

I love the fact that Jesus didn’t wait for us to get ‘good’.  Romans 5:8 says ‘while we were yet sinners Christ died for us’.   Amazing!

GLORY ZONE

The best (and worst) thing about hitting rock bottom in life is that we still have a choice to make.  There are many characters in the Bible who cried out to the Lord and He lifted them up out of the hole they were in.  Psalm 40:1-3.   There is power available to live a new life

TEACH US TO PRAY

This is the daily prayer Jesus taught his disciples to pray.  It’s powerful.  Try it! Matthew 6:9-13

ANSWER MY PRAYER

I was given these words by an inmate and I put music to them.  Many of the Psalms, found in the middle of the Bible, are very real, honest to God prayers of sorrow, pain, anger and questions, as well as prayers of faith, love, praise and worship.  So let it out!  God can handle it.  Psalm 62:8

BE STILL MY SOUL

Use this song to close your eyes and find rest in His presence.  Let Him minister to you.  Isaiah 26:3

PSALM 138

A song of hope!  He has good things planned for our lives,  Jeremiah 29:11.  Take heart!

WORD OF OUR GOD

The Word of God has creative power to bring new life.  Psalm 33:6 & 9.  If we read it, believe it and do it, expect changed lives.

DANCING WITH THE FATHER

There was a time when I couldn’t have related to this song at all! The idea of having a father delighting in his children and having fun with them was not my experience.  So when I became a Christian I thought “Oh no!  Another father I can never please”.   But thankfully Jesus revealed my Heavenly Father to me and set me free from striving so that I can enjoy my relationship with Him.  That’s why this song is a living reality to me.  Come to the Father through Jesus the Son and let Him love and heal you too.  I John 3:1
